Doctor Strange convinces the Surfer to engage in a duel of combat with Thanos.  Nebula possesses the Infinity Gauntlet and must be stopped.  Doctor Strange decides to transport Surfer and Thanos to a mystic plane, where they can battle by Doctor Strange's rules without powers.  They fear he will kill Thanos who begs him to.  The Surfer allows him to survive.  Used.
