Richard Deacon was a small-time criminal who got shot by police during an unsuccessful kidnapping attempt thwarted by Spider-Man.
Left for dead, Deacon stumbled into the laboratory of Dr. Stillwell whose brother created the Scorpion.  Dr. Stillwell imprinted the genetic coding of a fly onto Deacon, granting him superhuman abilities which include super strength, stamina, durability, agility, reflexes, flight, wall-crawling, 360° vision, acid vomit and a reinforced steel skeleton.  Used.
