Dr. Hubert Fusser is about to activate a device that would unlock the secrets of the universe.  Something goes wrong and Herbert and Pinky are blasted with radiation and fuse together.  Fusion origin.

The Hubert half of Fusion’s personality wishes to learn more, but Pinky protests this anomaly of science.   Spider-Man attacks Fusion.  Pinky splits from his brother.  Hubert falls into the path of a train, prompting Pinky to re-merge to form Fusion and save his life.  Used.
